Abstracts:

Web Services with Oracle Applications 11.5.10 - Basheer Khan, SOA Software basheer.khan@soa.com

Web services, based on open XML standards, have the potential to enable dramatic cost savings as well as greatly increase inter-operability, software reuse, and business agility. Oracle Applications 11.5.10 will enable your enterprise to take advantage of the potential of Web services. This exciting development delivers a number of advantages for enterprises that need to integrate Oracle Applications with other applications, both inside and outside the firewall, between disparate systems and multiple trading partners. At the same time, the introduction of Web Services into the enterprise requires some rethinking of traditional security and application management processes. With more than 800 Web Services exposed in the enterprise with Oracle Applications 11.5.10, resolving issues such as Web Service user authentication, message routing, service-levels, provisioning, and encryption, among many others, become critical to success as well as regulatory compliance. Join Basheer Khan, Vice President of SOA Software and an industry-leading expert on Oracle and Web Services, as he discusses the promises and challenges inherent in moving to Web Services with Oracle Applications 11.5.10.

OAUG Update - Stephen Hughes, OAUG shughes@oaug.com

A membership and activities update from the current Executive Director of the Oracle Applications Users Group.

Workflow for End Users - Karen Brownfield, Solution Beacon kbrownfield@solutionbeacon.com

Workflow is everywhere in 11i, but as an end user, you may not be aware of how to use the technology to monitor your role in the business. This presentation will cover using the monitor to track your processes, customizing your Worklist, and set up vacation rules to ensure business isn't interrupted in your absence.

New Features in Projects Family Pack "M" - Kimberly McDonald Baker, Project Partners kbaker@projectp.com

Oracle Projects Family Pack M delivers significant new product functionality. This presentation will take participants through these new features in detail. Topics include enhancements to Earned Value, the Project Home Page, Task Dependencies, Structure Mapping, Flexible Budgeting options, Deliverables Management, Integration and more.

Case Study : Roadmap to Re-aligning the Customer Master with Oracle's TCA - Michele Dour, Aspect Communications michele.dour@aspect.com

Oracle's Trading Community Architecture (TCA) is a flexible and robust architecture that provides a 360 degree view of your trading partners. Effective use of the TCA requires careful and comprehensive planning that takes into account all of the trading partner touch points. This presentation explains how Aspect Communications implemented the TCA to deliver superior customer service at all of their customer touch points.

Mining for Gold … Using MetaLink - Karen Brownfield, Solution Beacon kbrownfield@solutionbeacon.com

MetaLink is Oracle's primary resource for on-line support. Using MetaLink, anyone with an interest in Oracle technology can get access to documentation, white papers, business flows, diagnostic tools, user guides, and technical reference manuals. MetaLink is also the best source for in-depth descriptions on new features of the latest releases. MetaLink provides access to forums for discussion of any Oracle-related issue. And, of course, MetaLink is the most efficient way to log Technical Assistance Requests (TARs). This session will help you navigate MetaLink to take advantage of the wealth of information that Oracle has made available

Common Tool and Utility-based Instance Refresh and Replication for Oracle Applications 11i - James H. Lui (SROAUG BOD) Employers Insurance Group jlui@intelligencia.com

An exploration of an applied and in-use set of tools used to provide 45-minute OraApps 11i (2-tier model) instance cloning with automatic password management, host and configuration maintenance. References towards support of earlier releases (10.7, 11.0) will also be provided. Using common SQL scripts and common Unix (and Windows-compatible) tools, utilities and techniques, this presentation will take you "under the covers" of the world of the Java and GUI tools, and into managing the E-Business Suite technology stack using command-line level resources.

Segregation of Duties (SOD) and Hierarchical SOD - Kevin Fukuda, Logical Apps kfukuda@logicalapps.com

Segregation of Duties (SOD) includes the assurance that no one individual has the physical and system access to control all phases of a business process or transaction: from authorization to custody, and to record keeping. But most fraud occurs at higher, hierarchical, levels in most organizations. Learn a best practices approach to automating the enforcement of SOD and the benefits of building on SOD to automate enforcement at a hierarchical level.

Workflow Setup in Release 11i - Karen Brownfield, Solution Beacon kbrownfield@solutionbeacon.com

Workflow is everywhere in Release 11i. But if it's not setup properly, your users won't get the benefits, and worse, you may have experienced problems that you aren't even aware of. This presentation will discuss how to setup workflow in the 11.5.9 or 11.5.10 environment and discuss the additional steps DBAs must take when cloning databases.

Security and Release 11i - John Stouffer, Solution Beacon jstouffer@solutionbeacon.com

Terrorism, identity theft, 9/11. It's no longer a safe world, and corporate data needs to be protected from not only the external bad guys, but also the internal ones as well! Many companies believe this won't happen to them - until it's too late. There are numerous ways to quickly and easily improve the security of your Release 11i environment and protect your valuable data. With minimal effort required to implement, we will provide real world examples of how substantial security benefits can be obtained by performing simple configuration tasks such as modifying the default values of select profile settings and timeout parameters. Security tips and tricks specific to the Oracle Applications will also be provided to enable administrators to protect their data from "the bad guys".

Deriving Value from RFID - James Testa, Bearingpoint james.testa@bearingpoint.com

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) - For many companies this phrase either evokes worries of an expensive cost of doing business with companies like Wal-Mart or evokes visions of a brave new world full of possibilities. Today's reality is somewhere in between with a lot of unanswered questions:

Addressing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) by Controlling Data Access with Customized Menus and Report Groups - Paul Cyphers, Solution Beacon pcyphers@solutionbeacon.com

Learn the features and functionality of how to control access to data through standard functionality within the System Administration module. In today’s day and age the United States of America has been putting more and more focus on the segregation of duties. Therefore it is important for users to gain the knowledge of how Oracle can be used to meet these objectives. During this presentation users will gain an understanding of how to implement custom roles and responsibilities. Users will also gain an understanding on how to control access to specific reports through the use of Report Groups. In addition, a discussion on Oracle’s new modules, User Management and Internal Control Module, will be given.

Executive Dashboards Delivers Business Intelligence Insight - Rob Griebel, Noetix Corporation sally.hicks@noetix.com

Discover an easy-to-use dashboard solution that displays financial and other intelligence information specifically designed for executives and business managers. Learn how to accelerate decision making by providing visibility into every aspect of your daily operations. Release 11i Apps DBA - John Stouffer, Solution Beacon jstouffer@solutionbeacon.com

Oracle DBA or Applications DBA? What's the difference? It's all Oracle, right? Wrong! With the increased complexities and interdependent components of the technology stack in Release 11i, the differences between an Oracle DBA and Oracle Applications DBA are even more significant that with past releases. The Oracle Applications DBA is a technology specialist whose repsonsibilities span from the operating system and database to the client desktop
